Carbon footprint

Knowledge of the own carbon footprint is becoming increasingly important for companies of the manufacturing sector in the current discussion of the climate policy.

We are part of the supplychain for automotive manufacturers in the field of seat covers. The main focus here is the process of flame lamination, in which a foam is melted by an open flame and optionally bonded to a nonwoven or a knitted fabric as a backing layer.

The requirements for such an energy-intensive process in terms of energy use and life cycle assessment are steadily increasing, prompting us to analyze the process in terms of its carbon footprint in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences in Hof. In addition to the existing process, we also examined and evaluated the alternative comparative processes of engraving rollers and flatbed presses.
